“We would rather be ruined than changed
We would rather die in our dread
Than climb the cross of the moment
And let our illusions die.”
― The Age of Anxiety: A Baroque Eclogue
I am at a period in my life where I feel a lot of changes. It has been a real challenge. It can almost feel like a death to the ego to realize that you have been wrong. It is why sometimes doing consciously and conspicuously nothing, just sitting still, can be the most enthusiastic and pure form of prayer. To sit and notice what my illusions are and have been and to let them die.
