deluge

build things; watch them crumble

The house I was living in flooded on Monday, July 8. It was a really incredible storm. It felt like a hurricane. I thought the creek was rising a bit fast and then next thing I new it was pouring into the house. The water reached up to the doorknob. It was shocking how quickly it happened.

I went from "having stuff": cherished mementos, cards and artwork from people you love, paper mostly - to "not having stuff" - in the blink of an eye.

That's the only stuff that really hurt. I mean you lose your electronics and other stuff you can replace. But there were a couple of crayon drawings that were priceless to me. Perhaps it is a sign that I should take up the robe and bowl.
